Programme Overview

Imperial College London's Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure MSc provides specialist postgraduate education in the behaviour, performance and selection of materials used in modern infrastructure.

Students study the mechanical and physical behaviour of engineering materials together with the challenges involved in developing durable and sustainable infrastructure.

The programme covers areas such as concrete materials, mechanics of materials, geomaterials, materials selection and sustainable development.

Students also gain access to specialist infrastructure-materials facilities and complete a major research project that develops advanced analytical, experimental and engineering skills.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally hold at least a UK 2:1 honours degree or an equivalent international qualification in an Engineering or Science-based subject.

Suitable backgrounds may include materials science, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, earth sciences or another closely related technical discipline.

Applicants should have sufficient quantitative, scientific and engineering preparation for advanced study of materials behaviour, mechanics and infrastructure materials.

International qualifications are assessed according to Imperial College London's published country-specific equivalencies.

Admission is competitive and meeting the minimum academic requirement does not guarantee an offer.
