Job Description
The Lead Mission System Flying Test Bed Engineer will support an Air Dominance proprietary programme. The engineer will lead integration and flight testing of advanced tactical sensors aboard three flying test-bed aircraft. The role covers test planning, aircraft modifications, avionics integration, model-based systems engineering and execution of flight tests used to reduce programme risk.
Responsibilities
• Lead flight-test plans for key programme risk-reduction activities.
• Guide test engineers and ensure flying test-bed milestones are achieved.
• Execute flight tests to characterise tactical-sensor performance.
• Define aircraft modifications required for sensor and avionics integration.
• Coordinate with test, evaluation and tactical-sensor specialists.
• Participate in customer-led combined test-force activities.
• Monitor internal teams and suppliers for schedule and technical performance.
• Use model-based systems engineering for configuration and test traceability.
• Lead hardware and software integration, validation and verification.
• Resolve flying test-bed design and integration problems.
Eligibility
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or another directly relevant technical discipline.
• At least nine years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience developing and executing flight or laboratory test plans.
• Experience modifying aircraft for avionics integration.
• Experience integrating United States defence tactical-platform subsystems.
• Ability to obtain a United States Secret security clearance.
