Job Description

The Lead Embedded Software Engineer will join Boeing’s AvionX Software Engineering team and lead the development of embedded real-time avionics software. The position covers low-level development, hardware and software interfaces, bootloaders, operating-system drivers and safety-critical application software. The engineer will own significant portions of the software lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through implementation, integration, automated testing and verification on target avionics hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded real-time avionics software development.
• Develop Linux and real-time operating-system kernel or user-mode drivers.
• Define and debug interfaces between avionics hardware and embedded software.
• Support board bring-up, bootloader development and on-target debugging.
• Derive software requirements and maintain lifecycle traceability.
• Design application and hardware-abstraction interfaces.
• Develop and review safety-critical embedded code.
• Integrate software components on emulated and target avionics hardware.
• Develop automated unit, integration and system tests.
• Identify software vulnerabilities and improve system resilience.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor other software engineers.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Extensive professional experience developing embedded or real-time software.
• Ability to independently own complex software-development work.
• Ability to meet United States export-control requirements.
• Ability to obtain the required United States security clearance.
• Employer will not provide employment-visa sponsorship.
