Programme Overview

Technical University of Munich's MSc in Power Engineering develops advanced expertise in the generation, storage, transmission and sustainable use of electrical energy.

The programme integrates electrical and mechanical engineering and addresses the transformation toward low-carbon energy systems.

Students can specialise in renewable-energy technologies and grid integration, battery and energy-storage systems, power electronics, wind-energy systems, smart grids, green hydrogen and sustainable mobility.

A research internship allows students to work on current energy-engineering projects.

The final semester is devoted to a Master's thesis applying advanced engineering knowledge to a substantial technical problem.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should hold a recognised Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with strong preparation in power engineering.

The degree must satisfy TUM's academic eligibility requirements.

Applicants are assessed through the programme's aptitude-assessment procedure.

Applicants with Bachelor's degrees obtained outside the scope of the Lisbon Recognition Convention may also need to complete the TUM Test Power Engineering.

Applicants with qualifications earned outside Germany generally need a Preliminary Documentation certificate from uni-assist.
