Programme Overview
Cranfield University's Advanced Motorsport Engineering MSc develops advanced knowledge and practical skills for careers in motorsport and high-performance engineering. The programme covers the design, construction and operation of competition vehicles together with materials science, aerodynamics, structural analysis, vehicle systems, powertrain engineering and motorsport management. Students undertake taught modules, an industry-oriented group design project and an individual research thesis, with opportunities to engage with motorsport practitioners and Cranfield's specialist facilities.
Entry Requirements
Applicants normally need a UK first- or second-class honours undergraduate degree, or an equivalent international qualification. Preferred academic backgrounds include engineering, mathematics, physics or applied science. Applicants should also demonstrate motivation and commitment to active involvement in motorsport. Selected applicants may be required to attend a formal interview, conducted in person or remotely as appropriate.
English-Language Requirements
IELTS Academic: 7.0 overall, with minimum scores of 6.5 Reading, 6.5 Listening, 7.0 Speaking and 7.0 Writing. TOEFL iBT tests taken from 21 January 2026: 5 overall, with minimum scores of 4 Reading, 4.5 Listening, 4.5 Speaking and 5 Writing. Cambridge English: 190 overall, with minimum scores of 180 Reading, 180 Listening, 190 Speaking and 190 Writing. Duolingo English Test: 130 overall, with minimum subscores of 130 Speaking, 145 Writing, 120 Reading and 115 Listening. English-language requirements must be satisfied at the point of application.
