Programme Overview
The Advanced Computer Science MSc provides advanced education for graduates with an existing computing or closely related background.
Students can tailor the course through optional modules covering areas such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, cloud technologies and advanced computing systems.
The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical implementation.
Industry engagement includes careers events, employer guest lectures, industrially sponsored projects and research opportunities.
Students complete an in-depth summer research project.
Entry Requirements
Minimum second-class 2:2 honours degree, or international equivalent, in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
Significant programming experience is required, preferably in Java or another object-oriented language.
Applicants from other disciplines with significant programming experience may be considered individually.
English-Language Requirements
IELTS Academic:
6.0 overall
Minimum 5.5 in each component
Equivalent University-approved English-language qualifications including TOEFL and PTE may also be accepted.

Scholarship Information
Faculty of Science International Excellence Scholarship For September 2026, international postgraduate taught Master's students may receive awards of £7,000 to £8,000. January-entry Faculty of Science scholarships may also be available for eligible students.
