Job Description
The Staff Durability CAE Engineer will develop and apply explicit-dynamics simulation methods to assess vehicle structural durability and complex loading events. The engineer will work with physical test and design teams to create realistic load cases, correlate analytical predictions and identify structural improvements. The position also contributes to simulation standardisation, automation and repeatable engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
• Develop explicit-dynamics and durability models for components, systems and complete vehicles.
• Derive and standardise durability or crash-related loading conditions.
• Establish realistic materials, contacts, constraints and boundary conditions.
• Evaluate structural response and identify potential failure locations.
• Correlate simulation results with physical durability-test data.
• Recommend design modifications based on analytical findings.
• Develop repeatable modelling, post-processing and reporting procedures.
• Automate simulation and data-processing workflows when practical.
• Work with design, test, materials and vehicle-development teams.
Eligibility
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Significant professional experience in structural CAE, durability or explicit-dynamics analysis.
• Strong understanding of solid mechanics, material behaviour, structural loading and numerical methods.
• Minimum age of 21 and a valid driving licence.
• Ability to meet Rivian’s stated driving-record and continuous motor-vehicle-record monitoring requirements.
