Job Description

The Senior Torque Engineer will develop, implement and maintain torque-specific requirements for vehicle manufacturing. The engineer will provide technical support for fastening equipment and processes, diagnose torque-related assembly problems and improve production methods. This position supports quality, safety, traceability and equipment performance across Rivian’s manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities

• Establish torque requirements and fastening-process standards.
• Serve as the technical expert for torque equipment and production processes.
• Troubleshoot fastening-tool, joint and process failures.
• Analyse torque data and identify abnormal or unstable assembly conditions.
• Support calibration, measurement-system evaluation and metrology activities.
• Develop corrective actions and process-improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, maintenance and engineering teams.
• Document equipment settings, specifications and standard procedures.
• Train plant personnel on appropriate torque practices.
• Support production-floor investigations during the afternoon shift.

Eligibility

• Engineering degree or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience.
• Professional experience with torque-controlled fastening, metrology or manufacturing quality.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic and scheduled instructions.
• Ability to work safely on a manufacturing floor around moving equipment, noise, fumes and temperature variation.
• Ability to satisfy the position’s stated physical and industrial-vehicle requirements.
