Job Description

The Senior Staff Technical Specialist will act as Rivian’s subject-matter expert for body-in-white structures. This technical leadership position will establish structural architecture and engineering standards across vehicle programmes, lead forward-looking design reviews and ensure body solutions satisfy safety, function, manufacturing, cost, weight, service and sustainability targets.

Responsibilities

• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance grounded in engineering first principles.
• Lead forward-looking CAD and body-structure design reviews.
• Benchmark new structural technologies, competitors and industry developments.
• Ensure body-in-white best practices are implemented across vehicle programmes.
• Establish system architecture and technical targets for structural parts and assemblies.
• Develop and communicate the body-structure technical roadmap.
• Maintain body-structure design standards and DFMEA documentation.
• Guide trade-offs involving packaging, manufacturing, cost, weight and vehicle performance.

Eligibility

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Approximately 11–15 or more years of automotive body-structure design and development experience.
• Previous leadership of multiple vehicle-body developments from concept through production.
• Advanced knowledge of stamping, casting, extrusion, multi-material joining and structural CAE.
• Systems-level understanding of component and complete-vehicle validation.
