Job Description
The Senior Process Engineer will support Rivian’s body-shop manufacturing operation and ensure production milestones are achieved safely and efficiently. The engineer will help design, purchase, install and commission body-assembly equipment while improving existing production processes. The role includes welding, joining, material handling, process documentation, capital-project management and cross-functional production problem-solving.
Responsibilities
• Support equipment design, supplier buy-off and installation for new vehicle launches.
• Develop manufacturing-cell layouts, material-rack concepts and PFMEA documentation.
• Create and improve standardised work with safety, quality and production teams.
• Lead continuous-improvement and cross-functional problem-solving activities.
• Optimise body-shop processes for productivity, quality and equipment reliability.
• Support equipment runoff and verify readiness for mass production.
• Reduce production downtime and improve process efficiency.
• Define project scopes and manage capital budgets.
• Coordinate labour and production resources across body-shop operations.
• Resolve welding, joining, equipment and assembly-process problems.
Eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• At least five years of automotive body-shop experience.
• Understanding of resistance spot welding, gas metal arc welding, laser welding, self-piercing riveting, mastics and structural adhesives.
• Experience with GD&T, APQP and two-dimensional or three-dimensional modelling.
• Ability to work safely in an active production environment and meet stated physical requirements.
