Job Description
The Resident Engineer will provide plant-based engineering support for exterior vehicle systems. The engineer will serve as an initial technical contact for build and production issues, coordinate investigations with product-development and manufacturing teams and implement practical solutions. The role supports multiple vehicle programmes and helps ensure exterior components achieve dimensional, functional, visual-quality and durability targets.
Responsibilities
• Support exterior-system launches from prototype through production.
• Act as the initial engineering contact for exterior-component build issues.
• Investigate dimensional, assembly, visual-quality and functional problems.
• Coordinate corrective actions with design, manufacturing, quality and supplier teams.
• Review product drawings, requirements and production measurements.
• Support design changes and continuous-improvement activities.
• Monitor production performance and recurring exterior-system concerns.
• Apply first-principles engineering to loads, forces, strength and thermal behaviour.
• Communicate engineering status and risks to programme stakeholders.
Eligibility
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical experience.
• More than two years of experience in an engineering role involving exterior-trim manufacturing equipment or processes is preferred.
• Understanding of mechanical loads, material strength, heat transfer and system function.
• Ability to work directly with production and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Proficiency with standard computer-based engineering and productivity tools.
