Job Description
The Nuclear Engineer owns technical studies supporting the design and licensing of Radiant’s Kaleidos portable microreactor. Work may cover radiation shielding, criticality safety, reactor physics, accident dose consequences, transient behaviour and radiation detection.
Responsibilities
• Perform reactor-physics and radiation-transport calculations.
• Design and evaluate radiation shielding.
• Conduct criticality-safety and accident-dose analyses.
• Model transient reactor behaviour.
• Verify and validate nuclear-analysis methods.
• Translate regulatory and customer requirements into engineering criteria.
• Collaborate with thermal, mechanical, electrical and systems engineers.
• Prepare calculations, reports and design documentation.
Eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• At least one to two years of nuclear-engineering experience; a master’s degree may count toward experience.
• Experience with radiation-transport methods.
• Basic understanding of thermal-hydraulic principles.
• Ability to work entirely onsite in El Segundo.
• Ability to satisfy US export-control requirements.
