Official standard-location salary range published by Lockheed Martin. For applicable major metropolitan areas in New York, California and Massachusetts, the official range is USD 125,600–217,695 per year. This position is also incentive-plan eligible.

Job Description

The Staff Avionics Navigation Systems Engineer will lead the development and integration of navigation and identification capabilities for advanced aerospace and defence platforms. The work may include embedded GPS and inertial navigation, required navigation performance, radio navigation, terrain avoidance, traffic-collision avoidance and identification systems. The engineer will guide system architecture, requirements, hardware and software integration, verification and technical documentation while mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design activities for avionics navigation and identification systems.
• Develop system requirements, interface requirements, specifications and operational concepts.
• Support embedded GPS and inertial-navigation system development.
• Integrate navigation hardware, embedded software and aircraft interfaces.
• Plan and conduct subsystem and system-level verification activities.
• Investigate navigation, communication and hardware-integration problems.
• Maintain systems-engineering and verification documentation.
• Coordinate technical work with hardware, software, RF, antenna and aircraft-integration teams.
• Support technical reviews, programme risk assessments and customer discussions.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across avionics development activities.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a related STEM discipline.
• Professional experience with navigation systems, identification systems or closely related avionics.
• Broad systems-engineering experience covering architecture, requirements, documentation and verification.
• Experience integrating and testing hardware, software or complete avionics systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
• United States citizenship is required for consideration because of the government security-clearance requirement.
